Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Battling Dice from Milton Bradley (1994)

Company: Milton Bradley | Release date: 1994 | # of players: 1-4 | Ages: 5+ | Where to purchase: eBay

Published by Milton Bradley in 1994, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Battling Dice game combined the popularity of the Power Rangers franchise with dice-rolling action.

GAMEPLAY

Each player selected three Power Ranger/Zord dice and one battle die. Evil Space Alien tiles were placed face down in the Battle Tray, with a fifth tile positioned on the arena board.

Players rolled one, two, or three Power Ranger/Zord dice into the battle tray, attempting to land them inside spaces containing Evil Space Alien tiles. Successfully landing a die within a space defeated the alien and earned its tile. Dice landing outside the designated areas or beneath the arena board were considered captured by Lord Zedd and could only be recovered by successfully rolling the battle dice.

Once all Evil Space Alien tiles had been claimed, players entered a bonus round. To win the hidden bonus tile, all three Power Ranger/Zord dice had to land showing Zords, while the battle die had to land in the fourth battle tray space. The player to accomplish this claimed the six-point bonus tile.

At the end of the game, players revealed their collected Evil Space Alien tiles, totalled their point values, and the player with the highest score won.

IN THE BOX

A complete game included the battle tray, arena board, 25 Evil Space Alien tiles, six Power Rangers/Zord dice, two battle dice, a backboard, and a label sheet. A printed instruction booklet was included inside the box.

ABOUT POWER RANGERS

Premiering in 1993, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series became a pop culture phenomenon. Produced by Saban Entertainment, the show combined live-action footage with action sequences adapted from the Japanese Super Sentai franchise. In addition to the television series, the property expanded into feature films, comic books, video games, toys, and tabletop games, helping fuel its worldwide popularity.

Bandai held the master toy license for the franchise for 25 years before Hasbro assumed the role in 2019. Since then, Hasbro has expanded the brand through product lines such as the Lightning Collection while also licensing Power Rangers to companies including Playmates Toys and Super7.
