“They’ll shop ’til they drop.”
Introduced by Mattel in 1972, the Tuff Stuff Shoppin’ Basket (#7040) was part of the company’s Preschool line and designed to support role-play centered on everyday shopping activities.
Constructed as part of the Tuff Stuff range, the basket featured a durable plastic body with blow-molded wheels and steel axles. A doll seat was incorporated into the design, and the basket itself was sized to carry a variety of play items. Marketing materials from the period noted the basket’s strength, with claims that it could hold up to 125 lb.
The Shoppin’ Basket measured approximately 22 × 16 × 20 inches and was recommended for ages 1 1/2 to 5.
