Jonny Quest Card Game from Milton Bradley (1964)

Company: Milton Bradley | Release date: 1964 | Ages: 10+ | # of players: 2-4 | Where to purchase: eBay

Released by Milton Bradley in 1965, the Jonny Quest Card Game is based on the original animated television series that premiered in 1964.

GAMEPLAY

To begin a game, the deck, consisting of cards numbered 1-40 and two wildcards, was shuffled. Two to four players were each dealt five cards. The next two cards from the deck were placed face-up in the plastic tray as the “high” and “low” cards, determining the range for playing cards. Players could only hold up to five cards at any time.

On each player’s turn, they drew a card from the deck. If a player had a card with a value that fell between the high and low cards, they placed it in the tray to update either the high or low card. They could then discard any other card from their hand.

If the player did not have a card that fell between the high and low cards, they had to place any card from their hand in the tray without the extra discard. Wildcards could be used as any value between 1 and 40, giving players more strategic play flexibility.

A round ended when a player played their last card. That player scored one point for each card remaining in their opponents’ hands. The game was won by the first player to accumulate the required points: 11 points for two players, 21 points for three players, or 31 points for four players.
