Incredible Super Stamper from Hasbro (1976)

“Stamp out amazing designs in an endless variety of patterns!”

Released by Hasbro in 1976, the Incredible Super Stamper was a creative toy that let children create colourful geometric patterns using interchangeable rubber stamps and a rotating sheet of paper.

Designed for ages four and up, the tabletop machine combined several adjustable mechanisms to create varied designs. As children moved the Stamper arm, the paper automatically rotated beneath it. A Rotary Dial allowed the selected design stamp to move up and down and rotate between impressions, while Radius and Spacing selectors adjusted the position and distance between stamped images.

Twelve interchangeable design stamps provided different shapes and patterns. Children selected one of three non-toxic ink pads in red, green, or blue, slid it into position, and operated the Stamper arm to build repeating designs across the paper. By changing the stamp, ink colour, spacing, and other settings, they could create different patterns.

The set included the Super Stamper machine, 12 design stamps, three non-toxic ink pads (red, green, and blue), 25 sheets of 8 1/2 x 8 1/2-inch paper, and printed instructions. An “Extra Value” edition added six additional design stamps.

Hasbro also offered replacement ink pads and paper through a mail-order coupon. The instructions advised owners to store the design stamps flat and away from excessive heat to prevent them from warping.
