Kenner hit the market with the Darci Cover Girl Doll at the 1979 Toy Fair in New York City. Darci was advertised as a jet-setting supermodel, stood over a foot tall and came accessorized with a fashion portfolio of magazine cover shots and a posing stand for use during photo shoots.
Two years after her introduction, Kenner upped the ante with the introduction of Fashion Fragrance Darci, a “beautifully scented, beautifully poseable cover girl doll.” Darci was decked out in a glamorous magenta and white leotard with matching wrap-around skirt. Also included were a little mirror, comb, and a small bottle of Darci perfume which allowed kids to “smell as terrific as Darci does.”
