Editor’s Note — Blue Thunder was a 1983 theatrical release starring Roy Scheider. In 1984, the film was reinterpreted as a short-lived television series with a cast led by James Farentino and Dana Carvey. The storyline revolved around an LAPD tactical unit and its helicopter, dubbed Blue Thunder. Multi-Toys Corp. released a playset to support the television adaptation. The tie-in didn’t meaningfully boost ratings and the show ended after an 11-episode season.
