Editor’s Note: Diesel-powered river tugs were manufactured by Tampa Marine Corporation in 1945 for the United States Army to support military operations during World War II. After the war, many were sold into civilian service, including to Standard Oil. Pyro Plastics Corporation later produced a scale model of the tug as part of its line of military, maritime, and educational model kits.
