Tales of trolls have been passed down through generations, inspiring everything from children’s stories to modern films, television, and video games. Located in Tromsø, the largest city in Northern Norway, the Troll Museum offers an immersive journey into this folklore and mythology.
Blending traditional storytelling with contemporary technology, the museum explores Norwegian folklore and Norse mythology through stories of trolls and other mythical figures. Visitors can discover original artwork, models, and figures inspired by these enduring legends, while accompanying displays provide historical context about the stories, their origins, and the characters they feature. Augmented reality (AR) elements bring additional dimensions to the exhibits by animating characters and displays.
The museum also includes a coffee corner and reading room, where visitors can play troll-themed tabletop games.
In addition to its Tromsø location, the Troll Museum operates a second site in Bergen, a city in Southwestern Norway.
