A daily look back at the toys, games, and objects that captured our attention as children and continue to fascinate us today.

Tigeroo from Ideal (1965)

Released in 1965 by Ideal, Tigeroo was a roaring tiger made to attach to a child’s bike or trike.

The plastic accessory required no batteries to operate and could be clamped onto any standard cycle’s handlebars. Once installed Tigeroo would open his mouth and emit a roaring sound with a pull down on the tail at the back of the toy. In addition to his moveable mouth, Tigeroo also had glittering “reflecto” eyes and gleaming fangs.

The toy came with a textile tiger tail that could be attached to a bike’s taillight to complete the effect.
