Thunderbirds debuted in the UK on September 30, 1965. Created by husband-and-wife team Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, the British science fiction television series was renowned for its use of Supermarionation, a production technique combining puppetry with scale-model special effects. The series followed International Rescue, a covert organization led by ex-astronaut Jeff Tracy that operated a fleet of technologically advanced rescue vehicles from an island base in the South Pacific. Considered the Andersons’ most successful creations, Thunderbirds ran for 32 episodes and has been delighting audiences around the world for decades.
To celebrate the show’s 60th anniversary, Anderson Entertainment has released a new 11-disc Blu-ray box set. Featuring restored high-definition versions of all 32 original episodes, along with the anniversary productions Introducing Thunderbirds, The Abominable Snowman, and The Stately Homes Robberies, this Region ABC collection is presented in its original 4:3 format with mono and 5.1 audio options and English subtitles.
The set comes packaged in a rigid slipcase and includes a 110-page episode guide, along with six large-format posters featuring cutaway artwork by Graham Bleathman.
The collection also features more than eight hours of bonus content, including documentaries, specials, compilations, technical videos, archival interviews, and commentary from the cast, crew, and creators behind the show. Also included is Fabblebox, a new mini Supermarionation adventure featuring Lady Penelope and Parker, along with a full-cast audio drama and a new HD remaster of the classic comedy short Nosey Parker Is Go!
