Luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer’s newest member of the Connected series of smartwatches is an homage to Mario, the iconic video game character.
On the heels of the news that a Super Mario 64 game cartridge sold for a record-breaking $1.56 million at Heritage Auctions, TAG Heuer released the TAG Heuer Connected x Super Mario Limited Edition smartwatch in partnership with Nintendo.
The watch has a 45-mm face with four changeable watch faces, weighs 86 grams, and is water-resistant up to 5 ATM (50 meters). The bezel includes red highlights along with a Super Mushroom, Pipe, and Super Star. It comes with two interchangeable strap options, red rubber or black leather set into a red rubber bracelet. The M symbol embellishes the strap buckle and crown, as well as the red case. The interior of the top of the case is embossed with an iteration of the Super Mario logo.
The watch lets you gamify your day with Mario’s help. Activity levels are tracked through TAG Heuer’s own wellness application. Wearers are given encouragement from Mario throughout the day as activity levels are achieved and new animations unlocked.
TAG Heuer is releasing just 2,000 units of the Nintendo-approved Super Mario timepiece, which is currently sold out on the TAG Heuer website.
