The Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed harnesses the history of automotive racing, including toys that have revved up the imaginations of young racing fans through the decades.
Opened in 1992 by racing industry enthusiasts, Bill and Joyce Smith, the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed chronicles the legacy of automotive racing and advancements in engine technology. The 150,000-square-foot museum includes galleries devoted to vehicles, engines, industry insiders, toys and other objects of childhood related to racing. Pedal cars, lunch boxes, tether cars, soap box derby cars, and other vintage items are on display.
The Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed hosts special events such as the LEGO Pit Stop in January 2022. The museum is also a popular destination for school field trips.
