Spars & Stripes from TOMY (1976)

Released in 1976, Tomy’s Spars & Stripes was a new “unsinkable” sailboat that actually sailed. It offered toy sailors ages 7 and up the clean, distinctive design of a classic 12-meter racing yacht, completed with adjustable sails, weighted keel, and automatic steering. The toy checked at a hefty 11 lbs and stood 15 1/2-inches (l) x 3 3/4-inches (w) x 19 1/2-inches (h). It came rigged and ready to hit the open water, be it a pond, lake, or bathtub.

Remember the toys and games of years past through vintage advertising – for better and for worse!
