The Future Is Fantastic!
A British science fiction series that ran from 1975 to 1977, Space: 1999 follows the 311 inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha after a nuclear explosion sends them hurtling uncontrollably into space. Starring Martin Landau, Barbara Bain, Barry Morse, Prentis Hancock, Nick Tate, and Anton Phillips, the series ran for 48 episodes and was the final production of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. With a combined budget of £6.8 million, it was the most expensive series produced for British television at the time.
Now, Anderson Entertainment brings the wonder of this visionary series to collectors with the launch of the new Space: 1999 VIP Eagle. Regarded by many as one of the finest science fiction spacecraft ever conceived, the Eagle is known for its elegant shape and mission versatility. Capable of everything from reconnaissance to space exploration and gathering much-needed resources, the ship is the third release in an ongoing assortment that also includes the Eagle Transporter and Rescue Eagle.
The finely detailed diecast model is crafted in 1:106 scale. With the design based upon the craft’s appearance in Lee H. Katzin’s debut episode Breakaway, the VIP Eagle is machined from Zamac metal and ABS plastic. It also comes hand-painted and finished with screen-accurate decals. The ship stands atop a fully sculpted scenic base that mimics the look of a Moonbase Alpha landing pad and features a unique orange passenger pod, newly developed command module windows with incredible screen likeness, a meticulously replicated engine unit, and fixed module landing legs.
Measuring 10-inches long from front to back, the VIP Eagle comes encased in a protective foam housing packaged inside a deluxe white presentation box designed by Marcus Stamps. The box exterior is a soft-touch matte finish decorated with a full craft schematic, specifications, and detailed information on the ship within. A limited-production certificate of authenticity completes the bundle, certain to make this model a highly sought-after item among fans and collectors alike!
Just 1,500 Space: 1999 VIP Eagle will be produced. It is available for pre-order now ahead of its mid-August release. Priced at $275 USD, this sleek spacecraft is ready to send you to the stars – and beyond! Will you be adding this masterful miniature to your collection this summer?
