Shaver Sets from Hasbro (1960s)

“Great for grooming and good fun”

Toy companies have long created products that let children imitate the activities they observed in their parents’ daily lives. A great example of this was the line of pretend shaver sets that Hasbro released in the 1960s.

The Shaving Set (#1400) consisted of a junior-sized plastic twist-open razor, dispenser with 3 plastic blades, shaving brush, soap, and shaving mug.

The Shaving Kit (#1404) featured a twist-open plastic razor, dispenser with plastic blades, mug, brush, soap, comb, after shave lotion, and hair tonic, all packaged in a vinyl zippered carrying case.

The Cordless Electric Toy Shaver (#1410) included a completely assembled ivory moulded plastic electric razor with buzzer. The toy operated on one AA-battery, allowing kids to both “sound and look like Dad’s.”

All three toys were marketed to boys ages 3 to 10.
