This 200-page Mattel catalogue from 1986 reflected the company’s continued diversification of its product offerings.
Mattel introduced a new line of Barbie dolls and accessories (starting on page 3), expanding the options available to collectors and fans of the iconic fashion doll. Another of Mattel’s tent-pole brands, Hot Wheels, also enjoyed the release of new models and designs (page 130), reflecting the continued demand for diecast toy cars.
Our personal favourites include some of the more obscure entries in the catalogue, including glow-in-the-dark fun with the line of Leon Neon strips (page 125) and the introduction of VCR-based games (page 193).
We’d be remiss if we didn’t point out the action-figure goodness of the She-Ra Princess of Power (page 153) and Masters of the Universe toy lines (page 167).
