ABOUT THE INSPIRATION
Created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, Scooby-Doo and his pals first appeared in the Hanna-Barbera produced cartoon series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? on Saturday, September 13th, 1969. Originally running for two seasons on CBS between 1969 and 1970, the series followed four teenagers and their talking dog who traveled in their van encountering and solving various mysteries. Featuring the voice talents of Frank Welker, Heather North, Nicole Jaffe, radio personality Casey Kasem, and Don Messick as Scooby-Doo, the series eventually got a third season on ABC in 1978.
A staple of many a child’s Saturday morning, Scooby-Doo and his pals have continued to show up in the world of animation in various spin-offs, reboots, and direct-to-DVD features. Over the years, the crew has teamed up with everyone from Batman to LeBron James and come face to face with every villain from The Black Knight to The Loch Ness Monster. Between 2002 and 2004, the gang even starred in live action courtesy of a pair of films starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, Matthew Lillard, and Neil Fanning.
