Located in Savannah’s Historic District, the Savannah Pirates and Treasure Museum explores the history and legends surrounding piracy and maritime life.
Opened in September 2025, the museum focuses on the Golden Age of Piracy and the people who operated across the Caribbean and other parts of the world. Exhibits examine figures such as Blackbeard, Sam Bellamy, Benjamin Hornigold, Calico Jack, Anne Bonny, Mary Read, Grace O’Malley, and Zheng Yi Sao, placing their stories within the broader history of piracy.
The collection combines authentic 17th- and 18th-century naval artifacts with reproductions used to illustrate life at sea. Displays include recovered coins, weapons, navigational tools, treasure chests, flags, and personal objects, while interactive exhibits allow visitors to handle selected reproductions and try activities such as lifting a silver ingot.
Visits are self-guided, allowing guests to explore the exhibits at their own pace. The museum also includes The Pirates’ Tavern, where visitors can purchase drinks following their tour.
