The tonies brand brings three classic stories by Roald Dahl to new generations of young listeners with its line of Tonies musical storytelling devices featuring three of the beloved author’s tales.
tonies continues to grow its audio storytelling portfolio by partnering with The Roald Dahl Story Company. The three stories featured in the line include Matilda, narrated by Kate Winslet (available July 2022); The Witches, narrated by Lolly Adefope (available September 2022); and James and the Giant Peach, narrated by James Acaster (available January 2023).
Each of the three stories is presented as a colourful sculptured component (called a Tonie) representing a character from the story. The Tonie rests on the top of the Toniebox wireless digital player where it is played via an NFC chip.
This isn’t the first high-profile partnership for the tonies brand. The company also partners with Disney and Dr. Seuss to bring familiar stories to life through its Toniebox device.
Audio samples of the stories are available on the company’s website. The stories of Roald Dahl are available for $14.99 and began with the release of Matilda in July 2022, with The Witches and James and the Giant Peach to follow. The Toniebox player is sold separately for $99.
