While the ad starts with the text “#5 IS ALIVE!!!!!”, this prototype never managed to finds its way onto store shelves, much to the disappointment of fans of the science fiction film. The robot star of the movie was slated to be 14-inches tall, weigh 16 lbs, and come equipped with a five-function remote control, that allowed home to move backward, forward, right, and left. In addition to being posable and having eyes that lit up, #5 was also going to be equipped with voice transmission capabilities. Children could transmit their voice through a speaker in the remove to give the robot “his own unique voice.”
