POOF is transforming the 1980s backyard game of lawn darts by putting safety first. The Jarts Lawn Darts set addresses the issues that led to the original game being banned in 1988 due to numerous (and sometimes fatal) injuries.
POOF’s Jarts Lawn Darts changes up the original’s metal dart tips for rounded rubber equivalents. The design causes the aerodynamic plastic projectiles to land softly rather than sticking into the ground.
Gameplay hasn’t changed with the update, however, and is still based on the game of Horseshoes. During a round, one member of each team stands in the Toss Area, takes aim, and tosses Jarts at the target ring. Successfully landing a Jart in the ring yields 3 points. Getting closer than an opponent results in a single point. The first team to score 21 points is declared the winner.
POOF’s Jarts Lawn Darts set includes 4 Jarts, 2 target rings, and instructions. Despite the emphasis on safety, the game is still recommended for children ages 8 and up. Adding Jarts Lawn Darts to your next backyard bbq or beach party will set you back $24.99 USD and is available from a variety of online retailers.
