Pasadena Model Railroad Museum – Los Angeles, California

Located in Los Angeles, California, the Pasadena Model Railroad Museum takes its name from the nearby city where it was founded in 1940. It operates one of the world’s largest HO-scale layouts, the 5,000-square-foot Sierra Pacific Lines.

The museum began as a club formed by hobbyists who shared an interest in railroading and model craftsmanship. Their detailed layout features trackwork, small towns, rural scenes, forests, and industrial areas. Trains are operated through digital command control systems that allow multiple locomotives to run at once with precise coordination.

In 1984, the group created the Pasadena Model Railroad Research Center to preserve publications, photographs, films, and other materials related to the history of the hobby. The organization adopted its current name in 2018 to reflect its broader mission of celebrating and conserving the art of model railroading.

The museum is open to the public on select days each month.
