Located in the Okanagan Valley region of British Columbia, Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad is Canada’s largest working display of Marklin-brand model trains.
Housed in an unassuming industrial-park warehouse, the 4,000-square-foot miniature world created by Poul Pedersen includes over 1,800 houses and 26,000 hand-painted miniature citizens living among handcrafted landscapes. The immense diorama features more than 45 computer-controlled trains journeying through European-inspired scenery.
Special attention is given to lighting the displays. When the overhead lights are dimmed, the landscape takes on an entirely different mood as the towns and landscape sparkle in the “night”.
A tour through Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad takes about an hour. The 26 interactive elements draw visitors’ attention deeper in and highlight special areas of interest.
