Nurturing Caring Through Play: Peanuts Exhibition Opens at The Strong

The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, welcomes Take Care with Peanuts: The Exhibit as part of its summer exhibition schedule.

Based on the Take Care with Peanuts campaign launched by Peanuts Worldwide in October 2020, the traveling exhibit extends the initiative through hands-on, interactive activities that encourage mindful global citizenship. The exhibition explores three key themes that appeared throughout the Charles M. Schulz’s long-running comic strip: taking care of yourself, taking care of each other, and taking care of the earth.

Familiar Peanuts characters take centre stage, using their distinct personalities, interests, and strengths to highlight values such as friendship, empathy, self-care, and environmental stewardship. Guests are immersed in the world of Peanuts through a blend of educational and interactive displays.

Guests are invited to:

  • Step into Snoopy’s doghouse, learn about spring cleaning, and explore the power of imagination.
  • Help Charlie Brown “feed” the Kite-Eating Tree while learning about healthy choices.
  • Climb into Linus’s blanket fort and enjoy Peanuts books.
  • Explore Peanuts Town with Sally and feelings at Lucy’s Psychiatric Booth.
  • Create music and groove with Schroeder’s grand piano.
  • Help Franklin manage a busy schedule while learning about time and numbers with a life-size Plinko-style board.
  • Create images and solve puzzles with Marcie in the classroom.
  • Learn about the importance of composting and recycling in Pigpen’s compost bin.
  • Join Woodstock for a scavenger hunt throughout the exhibit.
  • Pose with the Peanuts gang in larger-than-life photo-ops.

“TAKE CARE WITH PEANUTS is an initiative after my own heart, as it celebrates all the themes that my husband featured regularly in his comic strip,” said Jeanne Schulz, widow of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz. “Sparky shared messages of taking care of each other and respecting nature for years—he was always a man ahead of his time!”

Take Care with Peanuts: The Exhibit runs at The Strong from May 30 through September 7. Opening weekend activities include a scavenger hunt, kindness tree, neighborly nook, and additional opportunities to explore emotional awareness and creative thinking. Visit The Strong online to learn more.

The licensed exhibit was designed by the Miami Children’s Museum. Other stops on the 2026/2027 schedule include the St. Louis Children’s Museum, the DoSeum, and Florida Children’s Museum.
