National Transport & Toy Museum – Wānaka, New Zealand

The National Transport & Toy Museum combines a museum, vehicle collection, and aviation exhibit into one monumental spectacle.

Located in the Otago region of New Zealand, the museum contains the private collection of Gerald Rhodes. Now managed by Rhodes’ children, the collection includes over 60,000 toys, 600 vehicles, and 20 aircraft.

The toys include radio-controlled vehicles, LEGO, fashion dolls, pedal cars, construction toys, rocking horses, miniatures, board games, and more.

The outdoor play area includes pedal cars (including adult-sized cars!), rides, and games. The on-site toy shop — no entrance fee required — welcomes visitors and locals alike to gather the necessary supplies to enjoy playtime at home.

The museum is open every day of the year except for Christmas.
