Developed by Kenner, M.A.S.K. was introduced in 1985. Showcasing innovative designs, the line centred around a fleet of high-tech vehicles that transformed into action-ready machines while equipping each of its human characters with a unique mask capable of granting special abilities. Supported by a Saturday morning cartoon and comic books published by DC Comics and Fleetway, M.A.S.K. remained on store shelves for four years before being discontinued in 1988.
Following the release of the first wave of its revived M.A.S.K. line late last year, The Loyal Subjects has announced a second assortment of vehicles. Joining the previously released Thunderhawk and Condor are four additional vehicles recreated from the original Kenner line.
The new wave includes Hurricane, a six-wheeled combat vehicle piloted by Hondo MacLean; the Armored Assault Vehicle (AAV), driven by Cliff Dagger; Gator, an amphibious Jeep that transforms into a speedboat and includes Dusty Hayes; and the Stealth Submarine Cycle (SSC), a motorcycle that converts into a submersible and is piloted by Sly Rax.
Each vehicle includes a 2.75-inch articulated figure, two interchangeable masks, effects pieces, sticker sheets, and assembly instructions. The vehicles are packaged in retro-inspired boxes based on the original M.A.S.K. releases.
The second wave of M.A.S.K. vehicles is available for pre-order exclusively through BigBadToyStore. Hurricane is priced at $84.99 USD, the Armored Assault Vehicle (AAV) at $79.99 USD, Gator at $64.99 USD, and the Stealth Submarine Cycle (SSC) at $49.99 USD. Shipping is expected to begin in October.
