Stern Pinball announces a new range of pinball games featuring JAWS.
Regarded by many as the first official blockbuster film, Steven Spielberg’s JAWS swam into theatres on June 20th, 1975 starring Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, and Robert Shaw as a trio on the hunt for a deadly shark terrorizing beachgoers on the Fourth of July. Spawning three less-than-stellar sequels, a popular amusement park ride, and serving as the inspiration for a tidal wave’s worth of imitators, the movie was inducted into the ranks of the National Film Registry in 2001 and continues to be lauded as one of the most influential motion pictures in history.

JAWS transports players to fictional Amity Island, a small fishing community and popular summer vacation spot threatened by a killer shark. In the JAWS pinball games, players grab their harpoons and assume the roles of Brody, Hooper, and Quint as they attempt to save the island’s residents and the Fourth of July weekend. As one of the grizzled fishermen, you’ll battle the most dangerous ocean creatures on the planet. Feel the tension mount as you fire pinballs at the motorized shark fin swimming across the playfield. Navigate the Orca boat and activate the radio stand-up target to call for help. Witness blood in the water and watch as a custom-sculpted great white shark comes crashing right through the bottom of a fishing boat. Will you survive the hunt?
Adding to the experience, Stern’s innovative JAWS pinball games feature unique layouts and immersive film and audio assets integrated into the action. In addition to movie clips and the iconic film score of John Williams, each game also features custom speech by actor Richard Dreyfuss, who famously portrayed oceanographer Matt Hooper in the original Spielberg blockbuster.

The app, available for iOS and Android, also provides a special operator-focused toolset with everything from automatic code updates to remote diagnostics for easy maintenance and upkeep.
