Hello Kitty Island – Seogwipo, South Korea

Fans of the Sanrio’s Hello Kitty can visit a site dedicated to the iconic fictional character created by Yuko Shimizu. Located in the city of Seogwipo on Jeju Island, the Hello Kitty Island Museum includes 18 different exhibition halls, a café, a theater, and a gift shop spread out over three floors.

Each exhibition focuses on a different theme, such as the Kitty History Hall, Art Education Hall, Music Education Hall, and an Art Gallery. In addition to showcasing how Hello Kitty is presented in various countries across the world, several interactive activities are interspersed throughout each exhibition. This approach allows children to learn about while doing.

A 3D theater on the third floor features a 6-8-minute Hello Kitty 3D movie and access to an outer courtyard. Other attractions include an activity area, a themed indoor playground, and the Hello Kitty Café, which serves dessert and drinks amidst appropriately themed seats and sofas.

Once visitors have snapped their last photo, the ground-floor gift shop is available for purchasing Hello Kitty wares on the way out.
