Fisher-Price Play Family A-Frame (1974)

In 1974, Fisher-Price released the Play Family A-Frame, an homage to mid-century modern architecture.

The vacation chalet was an Airbnb owner’s dream, offering twin balconies, twin decks, a sleeping loft, a dining terrace, and a built-in kitchen. Below each balcony, a sliding door of clear plastic provided access to both decks. The overall size of the structure was approximately 13-inches wide x 9-inches deep x 10-inches tall and sported a primarily brown-and-teal colour scheme.

In a fun design feature, Fisher-Price included a small, mounted metal bell on one side of the structure that rang when touched.

The A-Frame came furnished with a picnic table and two benches, a Barbecue grill, outdoor chairs, and four bunk beds. The five Little People figures included a mom, dad, boy, girl, and dog. A four-passenger jeep provided transportation.

Fisher-Price designed the A-Frame to be portable. All the pieces fit inside, and the terrace folded up into the roof and snapped shut to form a carrying handle.
