Interplay Entertainment released Fallout on October 10, 1997.
Developed by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, the role-playing game is set in a post-apocalyptic future after a devastating nuclear exchange between the United States and China. Its retro-futuristic setting draws heavily from visions of the future found in mid-20th-century American popular culture. Fallout has since expanded into a multimedia franchise encompassing numerous video games, a live-action television series, and even an official cookbook.
Now, fans can showcase their love for all things Fallout with a brand-new set of bookends from Insight Editions. Created in partnership with Bethesda Softworks, the two-piece set stands nine inches tall and five inches wide, featuring everyone’s favourite Vault-Tec mascot, Vault Boy, flashing his iconic thumbs-up on one side and sitting down to read a book on the other.
The bookends include game-accurate details, including Vault-Tec logos, printed pages from Vault Boy’s book, and the posters hanging behind his head. Sculpted from polyresin and weighing more than four pounds each, both pieces feature a hand-painted antique metal-effect finish.
Priced at $325 USD, Fallout: The Official Bookend Set is available for pre-order through Insight Editions and is scheduled to ship after Fallout Day on October 23.
