“Fun! Watch it Pop! Hear it Pop!”
In 1964, with an Easy-Bake hit on their hands, Kenner released their first major accessory for the oven, the Easy-Pop Corn Popper.
To create their snack-by-lightbulb, kids poured kernels into the popper and pushed it into the Easy-Bake via the wooden knob attached at one end of the apparatus. The corn popped in the enclosed oven in approximately 4 minutes. Once the popping stopped, pulling back on the knob automatically emptied the corn into a waiting bowl below.
The Easy-Pop Corn Popper was offered in two colours: yellow or turquoise, matching the colour palette of the ovens at the time. Each popper came with two bags of popcorn, a caramel syrup mix, and a recipe sheet.
