“Make hair care fun!”
Kenner’s Easy Curl Quick Hair Setting Set let kids style their hair just like their moms.
Released in 1968, the toy appliance was powered by a single 60-Watt incandescent lightbulb integrated into a thermostatically controlled Roller-Warmer. In addition to the power source, the warmer could heat up to eight wax-filled rollers, and it also doubled as a carrying case.
Once the curlers were warm, Kenner estimated that hair could be rolled, set, and combed out in 10 minutes, a process described as “No Muss, No Fuss!” in advertising campaigns. Easy Curl also came with eight clips and an illustrated booklet that showcased the latest hairstyles from the time.
The sales success of Easy Curl encouraged Kenner to expand the line with two follow-up beauty toys. In 1970, the company released a version with a light-up vanity mirror, and one year later, the Easy Care Manicure Set hit store shelves.
