“Continuous motorized and freewheeling action!”
Transogram’s DynaMo series of high-impact plastic cars and trucks were in constant motion thanks to their exclusive “auto clutch” feature.
Released in 1969, each 1:43 scale car was powered by two N-cell batteries and featured pivoting front wheels and paint jobs with an aluminized finish. Kids could choose from eight models: a Cadillac, Mercedes Benz, Stingray, Thunderbird, Camaro, Alfa Romeo, Mack Dump Truck, and Dodge Pick-Up.
RACING SETS
To take advantage of DynaMo’s freewheeling action, Transogram released two miniature racetracks.
The Daredevil Racing Set included two DynaMo cars and a 33-piece track layout. The set also included a “Power Track” that increased the speed of the vehicles, allowing them to jump between tracks. The Speed Strip Set offered a single DynaMo car and an eight-piece track layout. A Power Track was also included to give each car an extra speed kick.
COLLECTOR CONSIDERATIONS
DynaMo cars and race sets are frequently available on eBay and online auctions. Despite their kinetic nature, it is possible to find cars in well-preserved or unused condition. Look for offerings that include an original plastic case with branded packaging.
