Chatty Cathy from Mattel (1960)

Chatty Cathy was a pull-string, “talking” doll produced by Mattel from 1959 to 1965. When she was initially released, she spoke one of eleven phrases, such as “Let’s play house” and “Please take me with you,” at random when her “chatty ring” was pulled. Seven additional phrases were added to the doll’s repertoire in 1963, including “Let’s play school” and “May I have a cookie.”
