Located in San Bernardino County, east of Los Angeles, the California Clown Museum honours the history, evolution, and cultural impact of clowns in popular culture.
Established by Steve Triola in 2022 as the self-described final chapter in his career as a clown, the museum is built around his personal collection of objects assembled over 15 years.
The museum traces the origins of clowning before exploring how clowns have been represented in media and popular culture. Through historical photographs and documents, toys, games, dolls, props, decor, artwork, and other artifacts, the collection of over 5,000 objects examines changing portrayals of clowns across generations, including their roles in comedy, horror, circus culture, rodeos, and Americana.
The museum is open Monday through Friday.
