My Arcade has introduced a new wireless controller designed for use with the Atari Gamestation line of retro gaming hardware.
Compatible with both the Atari Gamestation Go and Atari Gamestation Mega, the Atari Gamestation Gamepad features a wireless range of up to 30 feet and a rechargeable battery rated for more than 12 hours of playtime. The controller can also be used with televisions through HDMI-connected Gamestation devices.
The controller incorporates multiple classic input styles, including a free-spinning paddle, directional pad, trackball, bumpers, numeric keypad, and standard A, B, X, and Y buttons. According to My Arcade, the design is intended to support a broad range of classic Atari-style gameplay experiences. The Gamepad also includes SmartGlow illumination technology, which lights up recommended controls based on the game being played. Up to two Gamepads can be paired with a single device for multiplayer gaming.
The Atari Gamestation Gamepad is now available through Atari and Amazon for $59.99 USD. The package includes a charging cable and user guide. Atari has indicated that availability is currently limited to select markets, with wider distribution planned.
