Where’s the Fun From? – Who Invented Silly Putty?

In the latest installment of my YouTube series, Where’s the Fun From?, I tell the story of the moment when Silicone Oil and Boric Acid met in 1943, spawning a bouncing baby ball that became Silly Putty and changed the toy world forever.

Author, documentary filmmaker, and toy industry veteran Tim Walsh recently founded a new game company called Roo Games. Additional Where’s the Fun From? episodes are available on his Seize the Play YouTube channel.

Tim’s work appears on Toy Tales as part of our Friends of Toy Tales initiative to share content we enjoy from a host of creators with a similar fondness for vintage toys, classic games, and collectibles. His videos tell the stories behind the classic objects of play that continue to live in our hearts and minds.
