Editor’s Note: Action Man, introduced by Palitoy in 1966, was the British counterpart to Hasbro’s 1964 G.I. Joe line. The range quickly captured children’s imaginations through its wide selection of characters, uniforms, and accessories, all designed to encourage hands-on, imaginative play. The articulated Talking Commander figure featured flocked hair, moving “eagle eyes,” and an internal tape mechanism activated by a pull cord, adding a distinctive layer of personality to the toy.
