Scrabble for Juniors, Selchow & Righter

Vintage Game Demonstration: Scrabble for Juniors from Selchow & Righter (1964)

Editor’s Note: Created by New York-based architect Alfred Mosher Butts in 1931, Scrabble is a strategy game where players earn points by forming words on a game board using lettered tiles. Selchow & Righter acquired the license to the game and began publishing it in 1952. The company produced a child-friendly version of the game in 1958; a second edition was published in 1964. Using a two-sided game board and a combination of tiles and tokens, the game for juniors taught young children the alphabet and the spelling of simple words.
