Greetings, Programs!
In conjunction with the release of Tron: Ares, Paragon FX Group has partnered with The Walt Disney Archives to reintroduce a classic piece of sci-fi cinema from The Grid. Crafted in 1:1 scale, the Tron Helmet is an authentic reproduction of the retro-futuristic headgear first seen on screen in 1982.
Directed by Steven Lisberger, Tron broke boundaries as one of the first films to blend live-action storytelling with backlit animation and computer-generated imagery. So far ahead of its time, the movie was famously disqualified from a Best Visual Effects nomination at the 55th Academy Awards after it was decided that the use of computer animation was “cheating.” Over four decades later, Tron now stands as a visionary milestone, one that helped pave the way for modern digital filmmaking. Its legacy has expanded into a franchise of comic books, movies, and video games, all of which continue to enthrall fans with its bold glimpse into the future of technology.
Painstakingly reproduced from digital scans of the original prop, this museum-quality replica faithfully captures the spirit of that innovation. Paragon FX Group utilized modern technology to recreate the helmet’s signature glowing circuitry design, staying true to the original’s look and feel, complete with a touch-activated on/off switch hidden at the rear.
Limited to just 300 pieces worldwide, the Tron Helmet is intended for display purposes only and requires six AA batteries (not included) for operation. It is available for pre-order now through the official Paragon FX website for $1,138.16 USD, with a 20% deposit required to secure a reservation. Shipping will begin soon, though no official date has been announced.
Will you be adding this dynamic dome to your Disney display?
