Bandai Namco, the company that sparked a worldwide virtual pet frenzy in the 1990s, is about to shake up the industry once again with an all-new device.
Tamagotchi Uni is a unique, united, and universal gadget that aims to connect people on a global scale. With it, fans can now play together through the Tamaverse, the metaverse of the Tamagotchi world. Including such features as Tama Arena, Tama Parties, Tama Fashion, and Tama Travel, Tamagotchi Uni offers a unique experience for consumers. The universe features everything from DIY activities to exploring with the character, and an in-device social platform.
Tamagotchi Uni also looks to personalize the digital pet experience with numerous character options that allow pets to have different looks, personalities, and hobbies. Additionally, fans can connect their characters to wi-fi and customize them in a number of different ways while also accessing downloadable content and updates.

TikTok sensation, entrepreneur, and global superstar Charli D’Amelio has been named official brand ambassador for Tamagotchi Uni. “I’m a huge Tamagotchi fan and I’m so excited to be able to partner with the brand to launch an all-new device designed for a new generation,” she says. “The Tamagotchi Uni is a whole new experience and gives fans the opportunity to customize the play in an exciting and interactive new way.”
The upcoming global launch is not the only first for Tamagotchi Uni. For the very first time in North America and Europe, Bandai Namco will take the on-the-go fun of Tamagotchi to the next level with a wristband that will transform it into a wearable accessory.
Tamagotchi Uni is available for pre-order now through Amazon for $59.99 USD. Look for it to launch at mass retail beginning July 15, 2023.
ABOUT THE BRAND
Bandai released its first Tamagotchi in 1996. The handheld digital pet was housed inside an egg-shaped pod and featured a small LCD screen and a three-button interface that allowed consumers to play with, feed, and clean up after their pet.
