Suomenlinna Toy Museum retains the culture and history of Finland through the preservation of the region’s objects of play.
Founded in 1985 by antique dealer Piippa Tandefelt, the Suomenlinna Toy Museum is the Tandefelt family’s personal collection of toys. Dating back to the 1830s, the collection includes hundreds of tin toys, dolls and doll accessories, plush toys, games, and more. Housed in a modest villa, the Museum is now run by Tandefelt’s daughter, Petra, who is an author and collector.
The island of Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Museum is open throughout the summer and Christmas seasons or by appointment during the offseason.
