Few things go together like Star Trek and gaming. From the tactical space combat of Attack Wing to the hugely popular customizable card game of the 1990s, friend and foe of the Federation have been tirelessly trekking across the tabletop (see what I did there?) for over 50 years.
Now, as the cosmic winds of anticipation swirl, fans and gamers are gearing up for another exhilarating voyage into the final frontier with Star Trek: Into the Unknown. Conceived by the masterminds at WizKids, this two-player miniatures game places participants squarely in command of some of the most revered starships to ever grace the galaxy.
And what impressive ships they are! The inaugural Star Trek: Into the Unknown core set boasts the most detailed ship models in tabletop gaming — all designed to scale. Thus, larger ships like the storied U.S.S. Enterprise and menacing Jem’Hadar Battle Cruiser tower over the game’s smaller vessels. Each is pre-painted and features an incredible array of attributes that have to be seen to be believed.
Playing as either the egalitarian Starfleet or oppressive Vorta and Jem’Hadar, you’ll choose your officer, deploy your crew, and traverse headlong into the unknown, navigating a treacherous landscape fraught with peril and possibility. In true Star Trek fashion, research and diplomacy — actions that have often proved as potent as raw firepower within this fantastical franchise — will also play a part, causing missions to evolve in unexpected ways.
Whether navigating anomalies, positioning your ships to strike, or negotiating terms with the enemy, each decision you make will reverberate throughout the cosmos and shape the outcomes of your unique story in profound ways. A truly immersive experience that can also be enjoyed as a single-player adventure, the Star Trek: Into the Unknown – Federation vs. Dominion Core Set has been designed for players ages 14 and older with an average playing time of 120 minutes. Expansions are planned and expected to beam down to retailers in the near future.
Currently available for pre-order and slated for release this spring, each core set is priced at $149.99 USD. Each includes six highly-detailed pre-painted ships; three acrylic range rulers; 15 acrylic system markers; two turning tools; 12 custom dice; 24 mission cards; 30 officer cards; 30 damage effect cards; 30 equipment, directive and other unit cards; assorted gameplay tokens; a learning guide, rulebook, and more.
Are you ready to take command and lead your faction to victory?
