Since the rapid expansion of the postal service in the late 19th century, stamp collecting has captivated hobbyists around the world. With notable enthusiasts like U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt, former world chess champion Anatoly Karpov, and Beatles vocalist John Lennon, it’s no surprise that this pastime boasts an impressive 60 million collectors globally, including a growing number of millennials.
Now, Stonemaier Games is capping the year by bringing the timeless appeal of stamp collecting to the tabletop with an exciting new game, Stamp Swap.
Designed by Paul Salomon, the creative mind behind Genotype and Honey Buzz, Stamp Swap offers a competitive collecting experience for one to five players. Players draft from a shared pool of face-up and face-down tiles, which include bonus cards, then divide the tiles into two groups. The twist? You must select a group from another player while keeping the one of yours that wasn’t picked.
The goal is to build, organize, and enhance your stamp collection each round in pursuit of one of four unique objectives. Since each objective can only be achieved once, strategic planning is key!
For any true philatelist, collecting isn’t just about quantity but also about the quality of stamps, like rare gold-foil editions. In Stamp Swap, curating a focused, high-value collection is crucial to taking home the top prize.
This three-round game is perfect for newcomers and veterans alike, with a detailed solo mode developed by Automa Factory. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow collectors, craft the perfect collection, and compete in a series of exciting contests. Whether playing on your own or with friends, you’ll have a chance to claim victory at this year’s Stamp Swap!
