Created by Joan Ganz Cooney, Lloyd Morrisett, and Jim Henson, Sesame Street is a world-renowned educational children’s television series combining live-action, sketch comedy animation, and puppetry. Currently in its 53rd season, the show has won a record-setting 205 Emmy Awards as of 2021 and is ranked by TV Guide as one of the best television series of all time.
The inaugural wave of ReAction figures features four of the most popular puppets from the PBS staple, each fully realized in a retro aesthetic that brings a delightful blend of vintage charm and modern design to the fore. Crafted in 3.75-inch scale, each of these articulated palm-sized pals will make a charming addition to any collector’s shelf.
First up is Ernie. Playful and always curious, Ernie’s enthusiasm can sometimes be a bit much for his long-suffering friend and roommate, Bert. Looking just as you’ve always remembered him, the orange-toned Ernie figure comes dressed in a horizontally striped shirt, blue jeans, and includes a Rubber Duckie accessory.
While relatively serious and reserved, Ernie’s best buddy Bert still finds time to enjoy a range of fun activities like bottle-cap collecting and studying pigeons. Dressed in a vertically striped shirt and brown pants, this figure also comes packaged alongside an included pigeon figurine.
Then there’s Count von Count. Whenever he’s around, the forecast calls for a 100% chance of number counting, with a high likelihood of thunder and lightning! The Count von Count ReAction figure comes dressed in his signature dark-grey suit and monocle, as well as a green cape accessory.
Rounding out the line are the Yip Yip Martians. When these goofy extraterrestrials visit Sesame Street, they often try to interact with inanimate objects that they incorrectly identify, with hilarious results. This fun-filled two-pack features both the blue and pink martians — each equipped with articulated antennae, spring-loaded mouths, and a special peg stand that allows them to appear as though they are floating.
The Sesame Street ReAction figures are priced at $20 USD each and come packaged on colourful blister cards. In addition to being offered individually, Super7 also has a multi-pack available featuring all four figures for $80 USD. Now available for pre-order through several retailers, the first wave of Sesame Street ReAction figures begins shipping in winter 2023.
