From the Lenovo Legion Go S to the Nintendo Switch 2, 2025 has been a great year for gaming hardware. But, amid the glitz and glam coming from big names like Atari, Nvidia, and MSI, no device has me more intrigued than the Rubik’s WOWCube from Spin Master.
Designed and developed in collaboration with handheld technology company Cubios Inc., the Rubik’s WOWCube is an interactive handheld game that combines the hands-on fun of a 3D puzzle with the functionality of a game console.
Inspired by the iconic 1980s toy, the cube features a series of rotatable segments, each with its own digital screen and motion sensors. These interactive elements allow players to shift, spin, and shake their way through classic versions of games like Space Invaders, Cut the Rope, and 2048. The cube also includes support for a planned library of new games and apps designed to engage both hands and mind in equal measure.
What really sets the WOWCube apart is its open software platform. Thanks to a built-in developer portal and Software Development Kit (SDK), the cube allows consumers to design and upload their own games, opening up new ways to interact with digital content in 3D.
The device is also certified by STEM.org, underscoring its potential as an educational tool. Could the WOWCube soon find a home in classrooms, perhaps anchoring a new STEM curriculum? Only time will tell.
Pricing and release dates haven’t been announced yet, but the official WOWCube website is accepting waitlist signups. If you’re curious to try one out, now’s the time to get in line.
