“Where Luxury Meets Technology”
CMODX announces a new multi-purpose gaming pod.
Dubbed the Orb X, this all-in-one setup seeks to fulfill diversified needs for work, entertainment, and gaming while taking the immersive experience to the next level with futuristic design, craftsmanship, and seamless integration of hardware and software.
Wrapping around the user like an other-worldly cocoon, CMODX (a division of Cooler Master) describes the Orb X as “a fully immersive multi-purpose semi-enclosed station for gamers and professionals”. Resembling an aircraft cockpit, the front portion of the pod is capable of holding up to three 27-inch monitors, or a single 34-inch widescreen display. A motorized arm will raise the monitors, while the extra large desk piece swivels to allow easy access to the interior. Once the player has settled into the high-back leather captain’s chair, the arm will then lower the displays to fully immerse the user within their chosen environment. The Orb X also features built-in wireless phone charging, while personal gear can be quickly connected via the control panel. The pod’s unique layout also offers enhanced privacy — you know, just in case you want to hold that all-important business meeting from within the comfort of this curvaceous capsule.
The pod also features built-in surround-sound with spatial audio. Comprising a 5-inch subwoofer, 2-inch drivers and 2-inch tweeters, the Orb X’s sound system has been designed to further enhance user immersion, while input/output ports built into a bar next to the armrest accommodates everything from headphones to several USB devices.
As for the chair, CMODX has fitted the Orb X with an ergonomic recliner. Designed for customized comfort even during those long marathon sessions, it features six-way adjustability, lumbar support, and an adjustable headrest. Oh, and if that’s not cool enough, there’s also adjustable ARGB lighting illuminating the whole thing. There is also a hidden compartment built in for a PC or game console. Available colours include Arctic White and Universe Black.
Curious about hooking it all up? Well, apparently you plug the Orb X into a wall socket then connect the PC to the pod’s power source. Consumption is limited to a maximum of 750W.
While CMODX isn’t sharing pricing or availability details at this time, it has started compiling a waitlist for those interested in getting their hands on one. For comparison sake, Acer’s Predator Thronos Air Chair will set you back $14,000 USD, so you have to imagine something like the Orb X will cost somewhere in the ballpark of at least $10,000 USD — and that’s before shipping! Not cheap by any means– but wow! Not hard on the eyes, either.
