The Museum der Dinge – Museum of Things – in Berlin, Germany houses a collection of toys, housewares, decor, furniture, and other objects of everyday life manufactured in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Located in the Kruetzberg area of central Berlin, it’s an eclectic collection of objects of notable design and influence. Large glass and wooden cases display objects of culture and design from the recent past. While the Museum is a relatively small space, nearly 35,000 objects are on display. Visitors will be intrigued by technology, political propaganda, toys, posters, games, and lighting – as well as other items we often overlook, whether because we perceive them to be mundane or because they are omnipresent in our culture.
Those who enjoy industrial and product design will discover a fascinating display of the evolution of design over time. Those looking for a glimpse of favourite objects from years gone by will be met by memorabilia that will spark memories.
Plan your next vacation to include a visit to a play-related store, museum, or private collection.
