The Mouse Heaven website showcases toy designer Mel Birnkrant’s collections of Mickey Mouse and comic characters.
Focusing on pre-World War II collectibles, Birnkrant curates an extensive collection of items depicting comic characters from as early as 1890. The collection includes original illustrations, plush dolls, sculptures, figurines, postcards, tin toys, puppets, puzzles, and other objets d’art.
The collection is truly astounding. Although he doesn’t consider himself a historian, Birnkrant’s museum-worthy collection includes wonderfully written stories of the history, evolution, and personal experiences of the characters he holds dear, such as Mickey Mouse, Pinocchio, Snow White, The Yellow Kid, Betty Boop, Buster Brown, and other classics.
Through his website, visitors can tour more than 1,000 items and marvel at the wondrous world of Birnkrant.
