To celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ arrival in North America, The Op Games — publishers behind such hit titles as Blank Slate, Hues and Cues, and Telestrations — have launched a new version of a classic game to commemorate the most influential band of all time.
Comprised of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, The Beatles formed in Liverpool in 1960. Integral to the development of that decade’s counterculture, and the recognition of popular music as an art form, the band explored numerous musical styles ranging from folk to psychedelia and are often credited with revolutionizing many aspects of the music industry.
Now, the famed English rock band is back on the tabletop! Created under license from Hasbro, Monopoly: The Beatles Edition is the result of a new deal brokered by Bravado International, The Beatles’ official North American licensing agent. Featuring loads of psychedelic twists on the original, fans can relive the band’s revolutionary past while buying, selling, and trading a decade’s worth of music and moments that both defined an era and changed the face of modern music forever.
Collect classic albums from A Hard Day’s Night to Revolver, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Yellow Submarine, all while enjoying customized artwork that represents a range of historical moments, including the band’s first concert in the United States and sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl. To truly immerse fans into the fun, Monopoly’s classic Chance Cards and Community Chest have been transformed into The Fab Four cards and Beatlemania respectively, each testing players on how well they know the music.
“The Beatles are a household name, well-known by fans of all ages, even six decades later,” said Dane Chapin, CEO of The Op Games in a recent press release. “Being able to merge the most influential band of all time with one of the world’s favorite family games in the new edition of MONOPOLY®: The Beatles is such a privilege, and aligns perfectly with our goal at The Op Games to create games that can span generations and bring fun for the whole family.”
Designed for two to six players ages eight and up, Monopoly: The Beatles Edition includes six collectible tokens representing timeless Beatles hits including Here Comes the Sun, Rocky Raccoon, Strawberry Fields Forever, and Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. “Listening Parties” take the place of the game’s traditional “Houses”, with “Concerts” as the classic “Hotels” — all paid for with the game’s custom Beatles money.
Priced at $44.99 USD, the game is available for purchase right now exclusively through The Op Games website and is sure to make one rockin’ addition to family game night! Are you ready to play?
